• In BUMP, correct answers earn students shots at the platform, where they can score even more points by bumping off opposing teams.
• GRUDGEBALL combines question review with a battle for survival as teams fire cannons, sink opposing ships, and fight to be the last one afloat.
• In The TERRIBLE Game, teams answer questions to reveal mystery scores, then decide who gets the points as everyone battles to finish closest to zero.

I’ve always found that students are much more willing to review when they feel like they’re playing instead of studying. Once the game starts, students start talking, thinking, and working together, with hands shooting up and everyone waiting to see what happens next. The real change happens when students start looking ahead to the next game and realize that the more prepared they are, the better their chances of winning.

And it isn’t just something I’ve seen in my own classroom—research has found significant learning benefits from using educational games with students. See the research.
