Explore 14 Ethics in Biological Research review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Give students a break from worksheets and bring Science review to life with a classroom game.

• Turn review into a classroom battle with GRUDGEBALL, where correct answers earn attacks and successful baskets give teams extra shots at their opponents.
• Turn review into an unpredictable whole-class competition with The BIG TERRIBLE Game, where every answer can send a team’s score in the right or wrong direction.
• In The TERRIBLE Game, teams answer questions to reveal mystery scores, then decide who gets the points as everyone battles to finish closest to zero.
• FRAZZLED keeps students guessing as correct answers reveal surprise points, wrong answers can reward the other team, and bombs can wipe out a score.
• SCOOT gets students out of their seats and moving around the classroom as they rotate from desk to desk answering task cards.
• BUMP combines fast-paced question review with a competitive challenge where students land shots and knock other teams off the platform.
• In TRASHKETBALL™, students compete to answer questions quickly and correctly to earn chances to shoot and score for their team.

I’ve always found that students are much more willing to review when they feel like they’re playing instead of studying. Students who normally sit back during review often jump into the action, working with their teammates and getting caught up in every question and result. Over time, that excitement carries beyond the game itself, as students start preparing because they want their team to have a better chance of winning next time.

The excitement is great, but the research is even better—educational games have been linked to stronger achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
