Explore 7 Inequalities and Applications review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Turn Math review into a game and give students a reason to get excited about showing what they know.
- The TERRIBLE Game adds strategy to review as correct answers uncover positive or negative points that can help your team or hurt your opponents.
- GRUDGEBALL combines question review with a battle for survival as teams fire cannons, sink opposing ships, and fight to be the last one afloat.
- BUMP combines fast-paced question review with a competitive challenge where students land shots and knock other teams off the platform.
- In FRAZZLED, teams answer questions to uncover mystery points, but one wrong answer or unlucky bomb can completely change the game.
- The BIG TERRIBLE Game keeps the whole class involved as up to eight teams answer together and watch their scores swing above and below zero.
- TRASHKETBALL™ gets teams racing to answer correctly, then rewards them with shots at the trash can to score points.
- SCOOT gets students out of their seats and moving around the classroom as they rotate from desk to desk answering task cards.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. Students who normally sit back during review often jump into the action, working with their teammates and getting caught up in every question and result. Play review games regularly and students start preparing for them, because just like sports, they know being ready gives them a better chance to win.
And it isn’t just something I’ve seen in my own classroom—research has found significant learning benefits from using educational games with students. See the research.
