Explore 19 Making Observations review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Turn Science review into a game and give students a reason to get excited about showing what they know.

• SCOOT gets students out of their seats and moving around the classroom as they rotate from desk to desk answering task cards.
• BUMP combines fast-paced question review with a competitive challenge where students land shots and knock other teams off the platform.
• TRASHKETBALL™ mixes fast-paced question review with a classroom shooting competition where correct answers earn shots for points.
• In GRUDGEBALL, teams answer questions to fire on their opponents’ ships, then make baskets to earn even more shots.
• Turn review into an unpredictable whole-class competition with The BIG TERRIBLE Game, where every answer can send a team’s score in the right or wrong direction.
• In The TERRIBLE Game, teams answer questions to reveal mystery scores, then decide who gets the points as everyone battles to finish closest to zero.
• FRAZZLED turns review into an unpredictable competition where teams win points, lose points, steal points, and try to avoid the dreaded bomb.

Review doesn’t have to mean another worksheet, especially when a game can get the whole class involved. Students get focused, talk through answers with their teammates, and suddenly everyone wants to be the one who gets the next question right. The real change happens when students start looking ahead to the next game and realize that the more prepared they are, the better their chances of winning.

The excitement is great, but the research is even better—educational games have been linked to stronger achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
