Explore 7 Radio Waves & Communication review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Turn Science review into a game and give students a reason to get excited about showing what they know.
- In GRUDGEBALL, teams answer questions to fire on their opponents’ ships, then make baskets to earn even more shots.
- In The BIG TERRIBLE Game, every team answers every question and earns unpredictable positive or negative points while trying to finish closest to zero.
- The TERRIBLE Game rewards correct answers with positive or negative points that students can strategically assign to their own team or their opponents.
- Keep students on their toes with FRAZZLED, where every answer can reveal points, help the opposing team, or uncover a bomb that resets the score to zero.
- SCOOT gets students out of their seats and moving around the classroom as they rotate from desk to desk answering task cards.
- BUMP combines fast-paced question review with a competitive challenge where students land shots and knock other teams off the platform.
- TRASHKETBALL™ gets teams racing to answer correctly, then rewards them with shots at the trash can to score points.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. Students get focused, talk through answers with their teammates, and suddenly everyone wants to be the one who gets the next question right. Play review games regularly and students start preparing for them, because just like sports, they know being ready gives them a better chance to win.
Games may feel like fun to students, but research shows they can be serious learning tools, with measurable benefits for achievement, retention, and engagement. See the research.
