Explore 7 Scientific Inquiry Basics review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Give students a break from worksheets and bring Science review to life with a classroom game.
- The TERRIBLE Game makes review wonderfully terrible as teams answer questions, uncover unpredictable scores, and use positive and negative points to get closest to zero.
- FRAZZLED turns review into an unpredictable competition where teams win points, lose points, steal points, and try to avoid the dreaded bomb.
- With SCOOT, students move around the room answering task cards, turning curriculum review into an active classroom game.
- Turn review into a team battle with BUMP, where correct answers earn shots and students can bump their opponents off the platform for extra points.
- TRASHKETBALL™ gets teams racing to answer correctly, then rewards them with shots at the trash can to score points.
- Turn review into a classroom battle with GRUDGEBALL, where correct answers earn attacks and successful baskets give teams extra shots at their opponents.
- The BIG TERRIBLE Game gets up to eight teams answering every question while unpredictable positive and negative points keep everyone guessing until the end.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. Before long, students are cheering, discussing answers, and asking to play again—even when their team didn’t win. When games become a regular part of review, students quickly learn that knowing the material gives them an advantage, and they start showing up ready to compete.
Don’t just take my word for it—research shows that game-based learning can improve student achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
