Explore 5 Select Revisions That Improve Focus review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum.
- The BIG TERRIBLE Game gets up to eight teams answering every question while unpredictable positive and negative points keep everyone guessing until the end.
- TRASHKETBALL™ mixes fast-paced question review with a classroom shooting competition where correct answers earn shots for points.
- In BUMP, correct answers earn students shots at the platform, where they can score even more points by bumping off opposing teams.
- With SCOOT, students move around the room answering task cards, turning curriculum review into an active classroom game.
- In FRAZZLED, teams answer questions to uncover mystery points, but one wrong answer or unlucky bomb can completely change the game.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. The competition gets students paying attention to every question, communicating with their team, and getting genuinely excited when the answer is revealed. Once students know another game is coming, winning becomes a reason to pay attention, practice, and make sure they’re ready for the next one.
And it isn’t just something I’ve seen in my own classroom—research has found significant learning benefits from using educational games with students. See the research.
