Explore 14 Structure of Government review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Turn Social Studies review into a game and give students a reason to get excited about showing what they know.

• In TRASHKETBALL™, students compete to answer questions quickly and correctly to earn chances to shoot and score for their team.
• Turn review into a team battle with BUMP, where correct answers earn shots and students can bump their opponents off the platform for extra points.
• Get students moving with SCOOT, where they travel from desk to desk answering task cards and recording their answers along the way.
• FRAZZLED keeps students guessing as correct answers reveal surprise points, wrong answers can reward the other team, and bombs can wipe out a score.
• In The TERRIBLE Game, teams answer questions to reveal mystery scores, then decide who gets the points as everyone battles to finish closest to zero.
• The BIG TERRIBLE Game gets up to eight teams answering every question while unpredictable positive and negative points keep everyone guessing until the end.
• GRUDGEBALL turns review into a battle where correct answers earn cannon shots to sink opposing teams before they sink you.

I’ve always found that students are much more willing to review when they feel like they’re playing instead of studying. The competition gets students paying attention to every question, communicating with their team, and getting genuinely excited when the answer is revealed. When games become a regular part of review, students quickly learn that knowing the material gives them an advantage, and they start showing up ready to compete.

The excitement is great, but the research is even better—educational games have been linked to stronger achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
