Explore 14 Structure of the Articles review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. When students are having fun, they forget they are reviewing, making games a great way to practice Social Studies.

• In TRASHKETBALL™, students compete to answer questions quickly and correctly to earn chances to shoot and score for their team.
• Turn review into a classroom battle with GRUDGEBALL, where correct answers earn attacks and successful baskets give teams extra shots at their opponents.
• Turn review into an unpredictable whole-class competition with The BIG TERRIBLE Game, where every answer can send a team’s score in the right or wrong direction.
• The TERRIBLE Game rewards correct answers with positive or negative points that students can strategically assign to their own team or their opponents.
• Keep students on their toes with FRAZZLED, where every answer can reveal points, help the opposing team, or uncover a bomb that resets the score to zero.
• With SCOOT, students move around the room answering task cards, turning curriculum review into an active classroom game.
• In BUMP, correct answers earn students shots at the platform, where they can score even more points by bumping off opposing teams.

Review works a lot better when students actually want to participate, and games give them a reason to jump in. Before long, students are cheering, discussing answers, and asking to play again—even when their team didn’t win. When games become a regular part of review, students quickly learn that knowing the material gives them an advantage, and they start showing up ready to compete.

And it isn’t just something I’ve seen in my own classroom—research has found significant learning benefits from using educational games with students. See the research.
