Explore 6 Tracking Spending & Saving review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Turn Math review into a game and give students a reason to get excited about showing what they know.
- TRASHKETBALL™ gets teams racing to answer correctly, then rewards them with shots at the trash can to score points.
- The BIG TERRIBLE Game keeps the whole class involved as up to eight teams answer together and watch their scores swing above and below zero.
- FRAZZLED turns review into an unpredictable competition where teams win points, lose points, steal points, and try to avoid the dreaded bomb.
- BUMP gets teams racing to answer correctly, then gives them a chance to score points by knocking other teams off the platform.
- The TERRIBLE Game makes review wonderfully terrible as teams answer questions, uncover unpredictable scores, and use positive and negative points to get closest to zero.
- Get students moving with SCOOT, where they travel from desk to desk answering task cards and recording their answers along the way.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. Students get focused, talk through answers with their teammates, and suddenly everyone wants to be the one who gets the next question right. When games become a regular part of review, students quickly learn that knowing the material gives them an advantage, and they start showing up ready to compete.
The excitement is great, but the research is even better—educational games have been linked to stronger achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
