Explore 7 Washington Cabinet & Advisers review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Give students a break from worksheets and bring Social Studies review to life with a classroom game.
- Turn review into a team battle with BUMP, where correct answers earn shots and students can bump their opponents off the platform for extra points.
- SCOOT gets students out of their seats and moving around the classroom as they rotate from desk to desk answering task cards.
- FRAZZLED turns review into an unpredictable competition where teams win points, lose points, steal points, and try to avoid the dreaded bomb.
- The TERRIBLE Game rewards correct answers with positive or negative points that students can strategically assign to their own team or their opponents.
- The BIG TERRIBLE Game keeps the whole class involved as up to eight teams answer together and watch their scores swing above and below zero.
- In GRUDGEBALL, teams answer questions to fire on their opponents’ ships, then make baskets to earn even more shots.
- TRASHKETBALL™ mixes fast-paced question review with a classroom shooting competition where correct answers earn shots for points.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. Before long, students are cheering, discussing answers, and asking to play again—even when their team didn’t win. Over time, that excitement carries beyond the game itself, as students start preparing because they want their team to have a better chance of winning next time.
The excitement is great, but the research is even better—educational games have been linked to stronger achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
