Explore 14 What Medicine Studies review games designed by a teacher to engage students and reinforce curriculum. Give students a break from worksheets and bring Science review to life with a classroom game.
- The TERRIBLE Game makes review wonderfully terrible as teams answer questions, uncover unpredictable scores, and use positive and negative points to get closest to zero.
- SCOOT gets students out of their seats and moving around the classroom as they rotate from desk to desk answering task cards.
- TRASHKETBALL™ gets teams racing to answer correctly, then rewards them with shots at the trash can to score points.
- The BIG TERRIBLE Game keeps the whole class involved as up to eight teams answer together and watch their scores swing above and below zero.
- FRAZZLED keeps students guessing as correct answers reveal surprise points, wrong answers can reward the other team, and bombs can wipe out a score.
- Turn review into a team battle with BUMP, where correct answers earn shots and students can bump their opponents off the platform for extra points.
- In GRUDGEBALL, teams answer questions to fire on their opponents’ ships, then make baskets to earn even more shots.
Turning review into a game is one of my favorite ways to get students participating without making practice feel like more work. Before long, students are cheering, discussing answers, and asking to play again—even when their team didn’t win. The real change happens when students start looking ahead to the next game and realize that the more prepared they are, the better their chances of winning.
The excitement is great, but the research is even better—educational games have been linked to stronger achievement, retention, and motivation. See the research.
