Brain Structure & Function GRUDGEBALL Science Game - No Prep AP Biology Review

Sink the other team before they sink you with Grudgeball!

Grudgeball is a no-prep AP Biology review game where students answer correctly to fire their cannon at other ships, and make baskets to earn additional shots!

The goal is to be the last ship afloat.

The game is playable with the whole class together, or you can play it as small groups. All questions and answers are included.

Topic Description: Describe major brain regions and predict how damage to specific areas affects behavior and physiology.

It is a digital resource. No printouts are required. All questions and answers use text and mathematical notation (formulas), and there are no diagrams, maps, charts, graphics, or visual aids.

While we provide a correct answer for every question, teachers should consider that students may provide a different answer that is correct and use their discretion.

How It Works

• The game runs in PowerPoint, and you can replace the questions and answers.
• The goal is to sink all the other ships.
• Make 4 teams, and set up a trash can/basket with 2 shooting positions.
• The closest shooting position is worth 2 points, and the furthest away is 3.
• Teams take turns choosing questions and answering them.
• Check the response against the answer, which is shown on the next slide.
• If correct, the team gets to fire 2 shots against any other ships, and toss one basket.
• If they make the basket, they get that many additional shots at other teams.
• Tap the number above the ships to fire at them.
• Once a team is sunk, they can get a lifeboat by answering correct at their turn AND making a 3-point shot.
• The game is over once there is only one team left floating.
• Questions vary in difficulty and the answer is provided after each question.

• iPads that run PowerPoint (free app)
• Smartboards
• Projectors
• Desktops
• Laptops
• Any device that runs PowerPoint

This game can be played together as a class using a smartboard/projector, or it can be played by individuals and small groups on iPads or computers that run PowerPoint.

No additional licenses required for the students in your class!

All of the images and colors are included exactly as shown. Each purchaser must obtain their own license, and the files may not be shared or resold. You are welcome to create as many customized versions as you like for your own classroom use.

Important Information

• This game runs on PowerPoint and will not run on Google Slides.
• A very small number of schools disable PowerPoint animations and hyperlinks.
• If that happens, simply use another device such as a laptop or tablet running PowerPoint.
